Robert Gregory Lathram was born on December 5, 1948, in Lexington, Kentucky.  He received a public school education there before attending the University of Washington in Seattle, where he majored in political science.  After college, he worked as a reporter and editor for several major newspapers around the country, including the Colorado Springs Sun, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and the Detroit Free Press.  He later was a founding member and served as the first executive director of the Northwest Burn Foundation.  In 1985, he was accepted at Vermont Law School, where he was elected Inn president of Phi Delta Phi and in his last year of school served as a student law clerk to the Honorable John A. Dooley of the Vermont Supreme Court.  After graduation, he returned to his native state and worked for legal services before opening his own office in 1991 in London, Kentucky.  Over the next 14 years, he filed more than 1,000 consumer bankruptcies and also maintained an active Chapter 11 practice, including serving as debtor-in-possession counsel in the Chas Coal and New Horizon Coal cases.  In 2005, following in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln, he moved his practice to Illinois where he has continued his consumer practice.  He holds a BV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and periodically lectures to various groups and at continuing legal education programs.  He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Illinois and Kentucky, as well as the following Federal courts: Southern and Central Districts of Illinois, Southern District of Indiana, Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
